These were popular in the 40's & 50's, and now they're startin' to make a real
comeback, especially among street rodders and hot rodders, etc. Folks enjoy
traveling in their cars, and love to camp with 'em at shows and along the way.
In the above picture you are looking at a newly-built teardrop camping / utiliity
trailer. Patterned
after the ones built in the 1940's, this trailer is constructed of exterior-grade
plywood and finished in bright white gel-coat fiberglass for durability, low
maintenance, and great looks. It is constructed over a sturdy all-steel frame with
leaf-spring suspension. The overall size of the trailer is 10'-6" long, 5'-4" wide,
and 5'-7" tall. The size of the interior of the trailer is 46" wide, 48" tall, and
96" long. The floor is 76" long. The interior features gray carpet and paneled
side walls. The glass is tinted dark gray for privacy and the left side glass
slides for ventilation. There is a battery box on the tongue to supply power to
the 12-volt lights in the interior, galley, and exterior above the door. The rear
hatch raises to reveal a large workspace counter-top and large shelf for storage of
items while at camp or on the go. The workspace counter-top raises for storage
underneath. There is also a cabinet for storage of items in the interior of the
trailer. The entry door into the interior of the trailer is a big 35" x 37". The
trailer is very light weight and may be pulled with a compact car, or small SUV. It
would look awesome behind a vintage car, antique truck, sports car, hot rod, or street
rod. All exterior lighting is D.O.T. approved and wired to a flat-4 connector which
connects to the tow vehicle. The hitch utilizes a 1 7/8" ball, and includes proper
safety chains for towing. The tongue jack is a swing-up style, and has a built-in
caster for easy maneuvering inside the garage, etc. There is a bright polished
aluminum tread gravel guard at both ends of the trailer. The tires are ST175/80D-13
Load Star's on new white-spoke wheels. 7" steel fenders keep the dirt & debris down.
This trailer is just finished, 100% brand new, and ready for this year's camping trips,
car shows, flea markets, & outings. Also an excellent trailer for tailgating and
hauling those newfound treasures home from the swap meets!
